Hermit’s Peak Watershed Alliance is hiring 10 people to serve on two work crews. One is a Youth Conservation Corps Crew, and one is not. Each crew will have a crew leader and 4 members. All crew members will receive 2 weeks of training and work for 10 weeks in the field doing on-the-ground post-fire watershed restoration work.
Period of Work: May 29, 2023 – August 18, 2023
Type of Work/Hrs: Full-Time – 40 Hours a week
Crew Leader Pay – $20/hr
Crew Member Pay – $15/hr
Job Description
Crew leaders will be required to manage crew members and will assist, guide and support members to do all project work. Crew Leaders will ensure compliance with applicable work plans and rules in post-fire restoration projects.
Crew members should be able to take instruction from crew leaders and assist other crew members in accomplishing restoration or land management projects.
All members should have the ability to do hard physical work needed for seeding, mulching, building log and rock structures for erosion control, and other restoration in a variety of outdoor terrain settings. Some hiking and carrying equipment and supplies is required.
Qualifications
– Background or experience in natural resource management or restoration is desirable
(Mandatory for Crew Leaders)
– Proficiency with a variety of hand tools
– Chainsaw Certification is desirable
– Strong verbal communication skills with team members, landowners, and the public.
– Ability to work as a team.
– Comfortable and physically able to work outdoors
